The PPG-ANS Doctorate has compulsory activities and disciplines, as well as elective disciplines, in the three Research Lines of the Program, as set forth in Deliberation 004/2009 (available on the DOWNLOADS tab). The maximum periodto complete the Doctorate is 48 (forty-eight) months, and minimum 18 (eighteen) months.
The Postgraduate Program in Food and Nutrition has three categories of professors, as established by CAPES, according to the activities developed, namely:
a) Permanent Professor: pertaining to the teaching career of UERJ, he/she teaches at least one course per year and develops research in the Program, besides advising dissertations and theses.
b) Visiting Professor: does not belong to the teaching career of UERJ; released from the functional activities, his/her performance is made feasible by a fixed-term employment contract with UERJ or grant for that purpose by a development agency; he/she collaborates with the Program for a continuous period and in full time, teaching disciplines and / or conducting research, and is able to act as an advisor.
c) Collaborating Professor: member of the Program’s faculty who does not meet the requirements to be classified as permanent or visiting professor, but who participates systematically in the development of research projects, or teaching or extension activities and / or orientation regardless of whether or not they have a link with the institution.
Postgraduate Program in Food, Nutrition and Health
The Postgraduate Program in Food, Nutrition and Health (PPG-ANS) –Academic Master and Academic Doctorate– aims at training professors, researchers and qualified professionals for the development of scientific and technological activities in the field of Food, Nutrition and Health.
The main objectives of PPG-ANS are:
a) to promote systematic research on relevant issues and problems in Food, Nutrition and Health, with emphasis on its biological, sociocultural and collective health aspects;
b) to promote training and theoretical, practical and methodological improvement of its students in the subjects related to the field of Food, Nutrition and Health;
c) to promote the production of relevant scientific and social knowledge in the field of Food, Nutrition and Health;
d) to promote initiatives and processes that increase the social integration of its members; and
e) to promote national and international exchanges in the field of Food, Nutrition and Health.
